Consumers are negative producers, but are producers also negative consumers?

To consume something is the opposite of the act of production, but to produce something may also be an act of consumption — insofar as natural resources are used up, or simply because time or space are used up.

The Positivity Paradox: Being Positive is Impossible without Negativity (the Possibility of Being Negative)

Neither the word “positive” nor the “positivity” concept would exist without something to compare it to. “Being negative” and “negativity” are nothing more than the opposite directions from “being positive” and “positivity“. One cannot exist without the other.

The next time someone accuses you of “being negative“, why not simply suggest that you are primarily doing it in order for it to be easier for the accuser to feel they are themselves being positive. ;)

Far More Important than Self-Motivation or Self-Esteem is the Ability to Support and Encourage Others

Too many people worry about how to deal with their own lives… — and not enough take into consideration how much of an impact they themselves can have on the lives of others.

Complete and Finished

No English dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED.

However, in a recent linguistic conference held in London , England , and attended by some of the best linguists in the world: Samsundar Balgobin, a Guyanese, was the clear winner.

His final challenge was this:

Some say there is no difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED.

Please explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand.

Here is his astute answer:

When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE.

But, when you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED.

And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!”

His answer was received with a standing ovation lasting over 5 minutes.

What if things go wrong simply because people don’t talk to each other?

Via Ted Ernst Sarvata, an update about huddles:

Kan says teamwork improved greatly once information-sharing became routine. Numerous snafus have been averted; for example, if the plant superintendent reports trouble with a machine, the sales director can adjust his delivery schedule. And by reviewing her executives’ to-do lists, Kan has been able to identify micromanagers and nip their do-it-myself propensities. Finally, the meetings have weeded out executives who didn’t communicate openly with their peers; Kan says failure to participate was a factor in one or two dismissals.

The biggest problem in many advanced / developed countries are not individual mental health issues but rather a widespread epidemic of underdeveloped social skills

I know this is only a gut feeling, but that doesn’t make it wrong.

I think the biggest problem are poor communication skills.

What do you think?
